I’m not a journalist. I’ve never sat in a press box, never had a lanyard round my neck at a training ground, and never been to a pre-match press conference. I’m a football fan, the same as you, and that’s exactly why This Is Football 247 exists.

Football by a Fan, for Fans

Somewhere along the way, a lot of football coverage got very polished and very careful. Opinions get hedged until they say nothing, managers’ quotes get reported word for word, and nobody says what fans are actually thinking in the pub after the game.

Football isn’t like that. It’s emotional, it’s tribal, it’s often ridiculous and occasionally brilliant. This Is Football 247 covers it the way fans actually talk about it: fan first, opinion first, and with no sanitised media spin.

How It Started

This Is Football 247 started life as a Facebook page, a place for UK football fans to argue, laugh and share the moments that make the game great. The website came next, as a home for the longer takes, the videos and the tools that wouldn’t fit in a Facebook post but ultimately wanted to create games and quizzes that people could interact and make This is Football 247 and living breathing football hub.

Meet the Founder

I’m Scott Liebenberg, a South London football fan, a Crystal Palace supporter, and the founder of This Is Football 247. Supporting Palace teaches you a lot about football: the highs are brilliant, the lows are character-building, and you learn never to take a good season for granted. I started the site because I was tired of football coverage that sounded like it had been signed off by a press office. I wanted somewhere that sounded like the conversations fans actually have.

Our Standards

Being fan-first doesn’t mean being loose with the facts. News and stats on the site are checked against reliable sources, and we link to them where it helps. The opinion is where the attitude goes. If we ever get something wrong, we’ll correct it. Just let us know.
